Modern Ambuge makes it big for Engan music artist

A NEW hit single Modern Ambuge which recently entered the PNG Top 20 chart on Yumi FM radio is a real break-through for a young song writer and music artist from Enga Province.

Lyrics of Modern Ambuge was written by Jonathan F. Karato, who hails from Kamas village in Wabag district, Enga Province, but resides at Morata, NCD.

Karato, who currently works as a safety trainer at the remote Basamuk Refinery in Rai Coast district, Madang Province was on his field break in Port Moresby when his song hit the airwaves and gained entry into the PNG Top 20 music chart.

“I was shocked and very excited when I heard the song while riding on the bus from Waigani to Boroko,” Karato said.

Modern Ambuge is contained in a brand new album Karato recorded in March this year with Big 7s Recording Studio based at the Divine Word University in Madang.

The new CD album has 10 songs which are all his own compositions.

Karato explains the lyric of Modern Ambuge as a humorous love song describing young women from Hagen Central in Western Highlands who upon seeing boys from Enga travelling to Mt Hagen city make fun of them are rural boys from the country. He composed the song while at high school.

There are other singles in the album which he expects to be favourites are Mangi Morata. The lyrics describes kids from the Highlands region, who are born and raised in NCD and are able to speak Motu fluently, which most times confuses their own people from the Highlands.

He said despite the hectic work schedule, he was able to put together with the cooperative talented sound engineer Nevell Bond, also from Enga Province.

Karato said he plans to launch the album this November.
