Men in doctor’s rape case appear in court

Two men who were arrested and charged over the rape of a young female medical officer at 4 mile in Port Moresby made an appearance at the Waigani Committal court today.

Douglas Joseph Anau and Wesley Joe Bomai are currently being remanded at the Bomana Correctional Institute.

They appeared briefly before Magistrate Cosmas Bidar for mention where they were told Police investigators were still working on collecting evidence to produce their files before the court.

Police prosecution told the court the investigation officer is almost close to producing the files and asked for a further adjournment of the case.

Anau and Bomai are expected back in court on November  4.

It is alleged the two broke into the young doctor’s residence on the first weekend of July and raped her before running off with items from her house.

They first appeared in court on July 28.
