Media Pool timely boost of K30, 000

The popular Media Pool competition received a timely boost of K30,000 ahead of its annual presentation night at the Lamana Hotel Ballroom on Saturday night.

It was thanks to Moresby North East MP Labi Amaui who had pledged support last year, but delivered on the promise last night at Lamana Hotel.

The MP was represented his officer Martin Kaupa who handed over the cheque to the Media Pool Competition  executives.

“MP Labi Amaiu had made a commitment as vice minister for Sport to support the Media Pool Competition and I am happy to deliver on the vice minister’s promise,” Kaupa said.

In receiving the K30,000 cheque, chairman of the Medial Pool competition Tony Sipa thanked the vice minister for sports for his commitment to the competition.

He added that the competition had ended a very good season in 2016.

“We have had a great season,  and the K30,000 would not have come at a better time and I would like to thank the Member from his ongoing commitment to the competition,” Sipa said.

Meanwhile, the Media Pool Competition will be holding its annual presentation night this Saturday.

MPC official Colin Taimbari informed  Loop PNG that a number of high profile people will be attending the presentation.

“ For Saturday night we have invited the Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko who will be a keynote speaker who has included us in the sports enhancement program.

“Our Patron, and  Health Minister Michael Malabag who also sponsored us with K20,000 this season will also be present along with Labi Amaiu and City Manager Leslie Alu,” Taimbari said.

He added  that the National Gaming and Control Board’s Leslie Hoffman and CEO Imelda Argon will also be attending the gala night.

The competition has been running for the past 13 seasons.
