Mangos allowed by Court to travel

The National Court this morning granted leave for a travel application sought by PNG Power’s suspended Executive Director, John Mangos.

Justice Panuel Mogish heard the application and granted leave for Mangos to travel to Australia to visit his family.

Mangos is on a K1, 500 District Court bail and one of the conditions is to not leave the country without national court approval.

He will be travelling out of Port Moresby on November 26 and is expected to return on December 6.

He will also be allowed to travel to Australia on December 18 and return on January 10, 2016.

He has named two guarantors; Paul Caiter and Andrew Kidu.

Both will pledge K1, 500 each to ensure Mangos returns to the country.

He will also be required to report to registry within 24 hours of his return dates and give his passport back to the Court.

Mangos appeared on charges of misappropriation and false pretense before the District Court on November 16.

It is alleged that between April 23and August 24, Mangos dishonestly applied to his own use and the use of others K30, 000 belonging to PPL as Board Director.

It is further alleged that Mangos paid those monies to the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for a breach notice under the Employment of Non-citizen act.

He returns to Court December 15.
