Man stands trial over noodle theft

A former employee of Nestle will stand trial at the Waigani National Court over allegations he stole five shipping containers of noodles worth K430,711 last year.

The Waigani District Court told committed Central man, Warren Koaba, to stand trial after the court found enough evidence against him.

The court found that the five containers of Maggie noodles went missing while they were being moved from the Mapai Transport yard in Eastern Highlands province by the accused, who was the area sales manager then.

Documental evidence consisting of the police investigation files, Koaba’s record of interview, as well as  time sheets of the movement of the containers, were all used by Magistrate Cosmas Bidar in assessing the totality of the evidence before the court.

A statement, in response to the evidence before the court, was filed by Koaba, and Magistrate Bidar issued orders for its committal to the National Court today.

He is expected to appear at the National Court on Nov 14 for listing before a date can be set for his trial, once all court documents are fixed.
