A man in Kokopo was arrested and charged with sexually penetrating his daughter.
The matter was reported last Thursday (September 24th) by the maternal relatives of the victim to police who moved in and arrested the man.
The incest allegedly happened on the 12th of July this year but was not reported until last week when the victim realised that she was pregnant.
Police report that the girl who is now 19 years old confided to her mother about the incident on September 19th when she realized that she was pregnant and could not hide it anymore.
The mother's relatives and community also learnt of this and assisted the mother to report the matter to the police which resulted in the immediate arrest of the father who is from the Kerevat area.
East New Britain police commander Anthony Wagambie junior says that the man has been detained and formally arrested and charged.
Wagambie says that he will appear in the Kerevat District Court where police prosecutors will apply for the matter to be brought to the National Court
