Legends Big Bash coming to POM

Cricket PNG will once again be holding its annual "Don't Drink & Drive" Legends Big Bash.

The event, that is sponsored by Pacific MMI, will run from August 31- September 5 in Port Moresby.

Coming to officiate at the event will be international cricket legends:

  • Lisa Sthalekar - former Australian National Women's captain and two (2) time ICC World Cup winner
  • Geoff "Henry" Lawson - former Australian leading fast paced bowler and former Pakistan National Men's cricket coach
  • Geoff "Swampy" Marsh - former Australian opening Batsman and former coach for the Australian National Men's cricket team winning ICC World Cup two times
  • Chris Martin - former New Zealand leading pace bowler.

The event not only showcases the sport of cricket to the general public but also aims to support the main message that this Big Bash supports – “Don’t Drink & Drive”.

It also exposes players from the men’s and women’s national teams to former international players and creates a vision of what they need to do to play at an elite level.

The inaugural “Don’t Drink & Drive” Legends Big Bash was first held in December 2009 and won global International Cricket Council (ICC) recognition immediately as the best marketing and event outside of the test playing countries in the ICC Global Awards.
