Kumul Petroleum welcome Total’s investment

Papua New Guinea’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) has welcomed French’s oil and gas giant Total SA entry into the country’ downstream market.

KPHL Managing Director Wapu Sonk said: “As the country’s NOC, we are happy to see Total investing in Upstream as well as Downstream Business so they can be a fully integrated oil and gas player in the Country. They have been in the country doing Lubricant business and now fuel distribution is added on and that’s a show of the growing confidence they have in PNG’s Economy, its people and its Resources and we welcome TOTAL SA.

The Managing Director said Total is the operator of the Papua LNG Project in partnership with InterOil, Oil Search in which KPHL will be a partner as the State nominee.

“We (KPHL) already have good working relationship with Total on Upstream and we are looking forward to working closely to develop the next LNG Project, Papua LNG together,” Sonk said.
