Kelerakwa has league fest

Running since 1966, the Kelerakwa Youth Club Association rugby league competition in the Aroma Coast continues to keep youths away from trouble during the festive season.

Today saw the completion of three days of competition played at the Kelerakwa primary school field.

Tournament director, Mike Vele said 10 teams from all over the Aroma Coast took part.

"It was good, the tournament  brought the whole community together and there was no trouble during Christmas and New Year. It was peaceful," said Vele.

He finished by thanking Member for Abau, Sir Puka Temu for giving K10,000 to run the tournament.

The Sir Puka Temu Cup was won by Small Bees after beating Vewala Hunters 16-8 in the grand final.

Small Bees walked away with K1,500 in prize money while the Hunters received K1,300 as runners up.

In the Plate division grand final, Keleone Eagles came out victors over Wanepai Dolphins winning 14-4. Eagles walked away with K1,100 in prize money while the Dolphins got K900.

For the Bowl division, Corner Stones defeated Water Miles 20-8. They picked up K1000 for their efforts. Their opponents were awarded K700.
