Juffa warns about government negligence to public services

A Government that punishes its people by cutting funds to health and deliberately imposes a policy detrimental to service delivery too, does not care for them, says Oro Governor Garry Juffa.

Juffa made the remarks after the Government has announced through the Minister for Public Service Sir Puka Temu that public servants will not see an increase in salaries for two years.

“This is a form of cruelty that will punish not just public servants but an entire nation.

“The public service is the vehicle required to transform Government policy into tangible outcomes and that is to deliver goods and services and successfully manage Government programs.

“Whilst it is badly in need of a upgrade and modernisation, it is still the primary arm of Government in so far as goods and services delivery is concerned.”

Juffa is urging all Papua New Guineans to stand up for the public servants and protest against the decision by Sir Puka which is immoral and possibly illegal and unconstitutional.

“Every Papua New Guinean will be affected. Development will be negated and progress halted.

“It’s an evil inconsiderate decision.”
