Juffa calls for proper vetting on intending candidates in 2017 polls

Governor for Oro Gary Juffa has proposed that all intending candidates contesting the 2017 National Elections must pass an Intelligence Quotient (IQ) Test before their applications are approved.

Juffa told Loop PNG that every intending candidate must have a basic qualification process to ensure they know how to read and write and debate and analyse and be well versed in issues of geopolitics, trade, finances, environment and regional economics, trade and politics.

He said PNG had not gone very far in 40 years because it simply did not have leaders who could navigate PNGs development agenda in the right direction.

He said poorly educated and weak selfish MPs with no morals and low intelligence had squandered PNGs opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Issue of Writs and Nomination will open on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Nominations will close April 27, with polling to start on June 24 and end on July 8.

Return of Writs is on or before July 24 while for the LLG Election, the Return of Writs is August 7.

The nomination period is seven days, from April 20 to 27, campaigning eight weeks from April 20 to July 8 and the polling period is 14 days, from June 24 to July 8.
