Investigations continue at Malaoro

Despite the slight delay in investigations, fire officials say that it’s back to normal operations on the Malaoro fire site.

The delay was a result of reported looting on Wednesday by opportunists at Malaoro wanting to take out food stuff from the scene.

NCD Fire Chief Akia Koia says that he will need to do initial interviews with staff at the store as well.

From this he will piece together a timeline of events leading up to the fire.

The cause of fire has yet to be ascertained and Koia says this will all be pending eye witness accounts as well as a review of the evidence gathered and reports taken from the various site inspections.

Members of the public are being warned to stay away from the burned structure, with market vendors as well as customers at Malaoro market warned to not sit or venture too close to the site.
