I’m a victim of Electoral Commission error: Polye

​Don Pomb Polye has blamed the Electoral Commission agents for an error which resulted in the National Court staying his election victory.

Polye in a statement said an error by the Returning officer for Kandep Open electorate, Naipata Kier has resulted in the court decision until the counting of the disputed ballot boxes.

There are five disputed ballot boxes which the court ruled for it to be counted.

Polye said he won the Kandep Open electorate by a big margin only to be set aside due to the error by the Electoral Commission and its agents.

“I am just a victim of an error by the Returning Officer.

“I urge my people of Kandep, my supporters and clansmen to remain calm as I consult my lawyers on the next course of action,” says Polye.

Of the four grounds raised by the petitioner, Alfred Manase, three have been ruled in favour of Polye.

Meanwhile petitioner, Manase said justice has prevail and the people of Kandep will truly know who their leader is after the five ballot boxes were counted.
