Heli Niugini Warriors hopeful

The Heli Niugini Warriors have edged closer to a grand final berth in the Nixon Duban sponsored Madang Rugby League competition with a 12-0 win over Brothers in the semi final on Tuesday.

The Warriors are now one win away from the grand final of the Nixon Duban Cup.

The last time the Warriors played in a grand final was in 2010 when they lost to Royals 8-6 and in 2007 they also lost to fellow Divine Word University student-dominated team, Ela Diwai.

This year being the 10th anniversary of the Warriors club’s foundation, the Heli Niugini-sponsored ourfit is hopeful for a positive outcome.

In the other semi finals match on Tuesday Pythons beat PNG Toner & Ink Supplies Panthers 8-4.

In the first do-or-die match of the bottom four teams on Sunday, PCS Knights beat Oilmin Royals while Hawks will meet Repeco Security Tarangau tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Warriors and Pythons are only one game away from the grand final of the Nixon Duban Cup respectively.
