Hekari grabs second win at OFC challenge

MRDC Hekari United FC has registered its second win in the OFC Champions League underway in New Zealand.

They defeated Suva FA 3-0 today in the second match of the round robin at QBE Stadium Oval in Auckland, New Zealand.

The goals were shared by Gagame Feni, Tommy Semmy and Joses Nawo.

Feni was the first to score 1-0 for Hekari 16 minutes into the game from a stinging strike following a corner kick from Matthias Iani.

Suva fought hard in the first 20 minutes but struggled to hold the ball as Hekari took full control.

Semmy extended Hekari’s lead 2-0 with a clinical finish from the edge of the box on the left side 31 minutes into the game.

Hekari took a well-deserved two-goal lead into the break, thanks to Feni and Semmy.

In the second half, both teams had to adapt quickly to the heavy rain as Hekari took control of the game, scoring in the 79th minute through Nawo.

Nawo kicked a powerful strike from the edge of the box. The Suva keeper put a hand on it but was unable to keep it out.

The match went into a three-minute extra time but Hekari held on to claim victory.

The win takes Hekari to the top of Group B with two wins from two matches, while Suva FA's tournament hopes are in tatters.
