Hekari and Wellington to battle for top spot in OFC clash

A top-of-the-table clash is on the cards for tomorrow between Hekari United and the home side Team Wellington at the Oceania Football Confederation 2016 Champions League.

Both sides are undefeated with two wins each but Hekari is currently leading Pool B by a goal difference of 7 compared to Wellington on 3.

The 2010 Champions League winners, Hekari will be full of confidence going into the game having won their previous two pool matches with little trouble.

But their opponents, who are last year’s runners up, will be equally determined to beat Hekari and top Pool B.

Hekari coach, Jerry Allen comments said focus is key to a win.

“The boys just need to be focused on the big game ahead. Making the finals is a bonus and it will be perfect if the team maintains the composure used to win the first and second game,” said Allen.

The match will be played at QBE Stadium at 3:30pm (1:30pm PNG time).

Meanwhile, the Lae City Dwellers will play for pride on Sunday in their last Pool A match against the Solomon Warriors at 1pm (11pm)

Semi-finals for the Champions League will start next Wednesday.
