Havora’s journey far from over

Her motto in life is to leave a place in a much better condition than it previously was, and outgoing Miss PNG 2015 Abigail Havora has certainly done so, as many describe.

Abigail Emma Kila Havora’s journey began with a single speech on September 16, 2015, that turned her life around.

Turning 24, she promised herself on September 23 to make history for her country, a promise that has pushed her to bring back the regional crown from the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in the Cook Islands last year.

Part of Havora’s journey ended last night when she transferred the crown and sash to Kellyanne Limibye, who is now Miss PNG 2016.

Before doing her final walk and performance as the outgoing Miss PNG, Havora had nothing but gratitude to express to everyone around her.

“It was by far the greatest challenge this year, I compromised and made sacrifices that brought a lot of stress and tears behind the smiles and beautiful dresses.

“I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every moment of it, the highs and lows alike. I also admit that there are many things I could have done but was not able to for various reasons.

“Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG us not just about showing the physical, spiritual and mental beauty of a young lady, it takes us right out of our comfort zones and shows us that there is so much more we can do.”

Havora is still Miss Pacific Islands 2015, a title she will also be transferring later on this year, in December in Samoa.

But she says that will not be the end of her journey.

“As I crown the new Miss Pacific Islands 2016 in December this year, my journey won’t end there. Rather it will be the beginning of another one as I embrace the future, impacting and influencing people and communities that I come into contact with.”

Like everyone else, patron of Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG, Lynda Babao-O’Neill, described Havora as truly a wonderful ambassador for young women and our country, PNG.

“I can honestly say she has left a lasting legacy. She has gained knowledge from the previous contestants and has provided a stronger platform for future contestants.”
