Gulf supports PM, says Kavo

Governor Havila Kavo says Gulf Province supports Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

“Gulf Province has moved since this Government came into power,” Kavo told Loop PNG before leaving for Milne Bay Province on Sunday.

“The Government has recognised the needs of the province and has given a lot of funds for infrastructural rehabilitation programs; roads, bridges, schools, administration blocks and many more.

“As long as the Government remains, we will have the province transformed into what it should be.”

Kavo told Loop that he and O’Neill are the senior members of the People’s National Congress (PNC) Party.

“I’m the only existing senior member of the party. It is my second term with the party while the PM has been with PNC for three terms. The rest are first-timers.

“MPs from other parties have joined and now PNC has 59 members. With or without the coalition, we’ll still make the Government, we’ll still have the prime minister.

“Ruling party has the number and they are still intact but with the coalition, it has gone up to 81.”

However, a reliable source at the Government camp at Alotau, Milne Bay, said as of last night, the head count was 75.
