Forgotten Yangoru- Saussia people have reason to celebrate

The forgotten Yangoru – Saussia people of Konge Ring in the Sausso LLG of Yangoru Saussia Electorate have a reason to celebrate country’s Independence Day today.

After 41 years of Papua New Guinea’s Independence this isolated villagers scattered in the vast Sepik Plains area  are seening Government services finally reaching them.

Yesterday saw the opening of Boru Health Centre and Timbunangua to Kwaliawa road linking the scattered villagers with Kubalia Station road network  linking onto the  Sepik Highway.

The Konge Ring constituency celebrated in style at Timbunakwa Village to mark the occasion by putting on drama and string band performances because now they will not sleep on the road to travel to Wewak again.

And also the medical centre will serve them  instead of  the people walking half a day to Kubalia Health Centre. The health centre built by the District Development Authority will be managed by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

And the 3.8km road was funded by the National Government at a cost of K38 million. Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry and local MP Richard Maru blamed his people for the lack of development and hardship they face daily because of choices they make during National Elections. “People we are responsible for the pain and suffering by not electing good leaders in the last 41 years.”

Maru added that the National Government had funded the roads because of the anticipated Sepik Special Economic Zone which is situated in the vast grassland in the electorate.

The villagers borders Yangoru- Saussia to the Angoram Electorate.
