Firm backs policewomen’s conference

An engineering company has come to the aid of policewomen to host their national conference in Morobe Province.

Classics Engineering assisted the officers with shirts to be used during the week-long conference that is starting on Monday.

During the presentation, managing director James Kennedy Steven said this was not their first time to help police in the province.

He said the company is  happy to play an important role in dressing the policewomen to run their week-long meeting.

"We have assisted police many times but not in the presence of media for publicity. It is a give and take thing so we are glad to have helped them out," Steven said.

The theme of the conference, which starts on Monday 2nd and ends on Friday 6th, is: "Embracing modernisation, empowering women and forging ahead”.

He said they spent well over K4000 to purchase 65 collar shirts for the committee.

Inspector Josephine Kumai thanked Classic Engineering for the great assistance with the shirts, which will be their official uniforms during the event.

It has been confirmed that 420 policewomen throughout the country will participate.

Kumai said the female officers in Morobe are busy with the preparation of the workshop and they will see the first batch of policewomen in the province on Saturday (today).

It is expected the top hierarchy of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary will attend the event as well.
