Final decision on staging FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup to be announced

The final decision on whether the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup will be staged in PNG in November 2016 will be announced tomorrow (Friday).

The announcement will be done during a joint press conference by the Oceania Football Confederation president David Chung and Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko.

Tkatchenko said the National Football Stadium is being completed to world class standards that will meet FIFA requirements for hosting the Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

A FIFA delegation visited the venue recently and was impressed with the design and quality of the facility.

They have advisedof  a list of requirements to meet all their standards and these have been incorporated into the stadium construction and design.

“We are meeting all the deadlines that have been put to us and we will announce the final verdict on Friday,’’ the Sports Minister said.

“The work done is first class and done to the highest level and standard.’’
