Fight against cancer takes on a new turn in PNG

Women around PNG are now standing up to actively fight against cancer in the country.

This fire has been fuelled by the recent six days walkathon from Asaro to Kundiawa under the banner “Mari Mari” Walk the Talk against cancer in PNG.

With more women determined to participate, the Corporate Dinner which was initially planned for December 10, has been pushed back to March 24,2017.

This event will coincide with the PNG National Women’s Day, adding more meaning to the celebration.

According to Project Manager Barbara Toiya, the extra time will also allow for provincial groups to do fundraisings and come together as team PNG against cancer.

She said the walkathon had attracted many women from other provinces who now want to form provincial groups and join the fight.

Since its launch in August this year, the biggest movement by far to fight cancer has raised K67,000 already.

It aims to raise over K10 million.
