Entries for UNAIDS Media Awards open

Entries for the UN Women and UNAIDS Media Awards for Excellence in Reporting on HIV and Gender Based Violence Issues in PNG are now open.

The Awards will recognize excellence in reporting on HIV and Gender Based Violence issues where in 2015 was launched as a collaboration between UNAIDS and UN Women.

The 2016 is expected to be an even more exciting and rewarding than the 2015 inaugural awards for reporters who want to make a positive change related to such issue in our communities.

UN Women wants to recognize this achievement with the Annual Awards and in addition, there will also be an Award for the best editorial column in PNG of which was award to Post-Courier last year.

The UNAIDS/ UN Women Media Awards will be presented to journalists who demonstrate excellence in reporting on HIV and GBV issues and who have made contributions through their reporting towards increasing public awareness and influence decision making.

The Awards are open to both mainstream and online media reporters, including contributors to social media platforms and winners will be announced during the 20 Days of Activism on Ending Violence Against Women on December 1 - a day commemorated globally as World AIDS Day.

Nominations close on November 1 and  nomination forms can be obtained at the UN Women Office, United Church Building, Down Town.
