ENB health see upsurge in flu-like illnesses

East New Britain Provincial health offices together with all other health facilities in the province are working towards providing better health for the people in the province.

Hospitals and health centres in Kokopo town have been treating many sick children who have been coming with flu like illnesses.

The Provincial health office has confirmed that the symptoms of skin rash, cold and fever is something new but believe it  is nothing serious as they have not established the source of the sickness.

Children have been treated with symptomatic treatment and sent home with most of them improving.

The cause of this type of sickness has not yet been found however, this could be possible due to the sudden change of the weather patterns in the province.

Health officers have been advising parents and guardians to provide the young children with a lot of fresh fruits and keep them safe.

Currently, a vaccination program for the very young people in the province is being implemented all in hospitals, health centres and clinics in each district.
