Ealedona appointed delegation head for PNG Kapuls

The former managing director of the National Broadcasting Corporation and football advocate, Joseph Ealedona, was appointed today as the head of delegation for the Papua New Guinea men’s football (Soccer) national team.

PNGFA President David Chung said it was an effort to bring changes to the management of the national team as the PNGFA embarks on its ambitious roadmap to get PNG to the FIFA World Cup. His role is effective immediately.

Chung added that Ealedona will bring his managerial, corporate and public affairs networking and skills to the benefit of the management of the National team and their planning process as they embark on this exciting FIFA World Cup run.

Ealedona will now be working closely with national coach Flemming Serritslev, the team management and the PNGFA. This is to prepare Team PNG for the home and away games against Tahiti in March 2017 and later the Solomon Islands.

President Chung said with the success of PNG at the recent OFC Championships, and with a quality coach in Serritslev and good government and corporate support, the road map to the World Cup, whether in 2018 or in future, can be realised.

“This is a historic run for a place in the FIFA World Cup. I urge for strong support from the Government and corporate sector,” says Chung.

“PNG is hosting the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in November and next year, we will host two OFC FIFA qualifying games and hopefully, to top our pool and play off with the winner of the other pool.”

Meanwhile, Chung announced PNG will play a friendly against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on November 14.

He hopes to secure one or two more friendlies with other countries while in the region.
