Duma slaps Wingti in Parliament Chamber

While the Parliament was shocked and silent about the shocked news of acting Speaker Aide Ganasi ‘s passing, two leaders from Western Highlands couldn’t hold back their political differences but took it to the floor of parliament on Tuesday.

MPs present in the Chamber were shocked as they witnessed something most  unusual happened.

Hagen MP and State Enterprises Minister William Duma walked straight to Western Highlands Governor and former Prime Minister Paias Wingti and slapped him on the face and walked off.

The motive behind Duma’s action's are not known.

Members beside Wingti had to walked over and comfort him.

Wingti, however, was so embarrassed he left the Chamber.

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his Deputy Leo Dion and other MPs were already in the Chamber and witnessed what happened.

This is the first time in the history of PNG for a MP to slap a former prime minister in the chamber on the floor of Parliament.
