David Mead down with knee injury

Gold Coast Titan and PNG Kumuls captain David Mead is suffering a knee injury and will be on the bench for two months to recover.

Mead explained that he has sustained a posterior cruciate ligament injury which is a mild to moderate pain in the knee and can cause a slight limp or difficulty walking.

He sustained the injury during the Titan’s match against Penrith Panthers in round 11 last weekend.

“I was diving in the corner to score a try and my knee was on the ground and someone landed on my hip and my knee just twisted a bit.

“I will have to keep the leg straight for about four weeks,” Mead explained.

Mead in currently in the country for six days visiting family with wife Taneal and seven months old son Paxton.

With Titans on a bye this weekend, Mead said this was a good opportunity for him to take time off training and come here to PNG to visit his family.

Mead claimed that Titans had a pretty bad month with a losing streak after winning the last two games and losing five previously.

He said to get two wins and then into a bye for six points is important at this stage of the season as for his team it’s about building momentum half way through the year and to the end.
