CS armoury break in: no suspects identified yet

Police Investigations into the break in at the Correctional Services Armory continues and a report is yet to reach the office of NCD Metropolitan Superintendent.

At this stage no suspects have been identified yet.

Correctional Services Commissioner Michael Waipo reported yesterday that the armory at Bomana was accessed with the use of a key on Thursday night by unknown suspects.

Nine, 5.56 millimeter bullets and an empty banana magazine were taken.

There are suspicions that it could be an inside job as a result of a power struggle between the CS hierarchy.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Ben Turi is aware of the situation and police have been instructed to keep a close watch on the prison facility.

“Police commissioner has instructed police not to be involved in any way exept to monitor,” he added.

All locks at the armory have been changed and security measures tightened.
