Cricket more than just a job for Nuana

For 20-year-old Nuana Nuana, cricket is more than just a job – it’s his passion and his life.

The youngster joined Cricket PNG (CPNG) as a development officer almost three years ago and has not looked back since.

“Cricket has changed my life for the better. I have learnt to have a more positive attitude, to carry myself with respect and be disciplined in life,” said Nuana.

Nuana said his love for the sport of cricket began as early as 10. It wasn’t long before he became a coach for the Coasters Cricket Club’s Under 15 team.

“I started off coaching for the Coasters Cricket Club and it was from there that the HEBOU PNG Barramundis assistant coach John Ovia saw my talent and passion for cricket.

“John then invited me to join Cricket PNG as a development officer and I love what I do every day,” said Nuana.

Nuana opened up saying the best part of his job is working with students through the BSP School Kriket Program where young children learn to develop the basic skills of cricket.

“When I see the kids enjoying cricket and knowing that I am a part of their development, it makes me really happy.

“I am able to give back through the sport I love when teaching these students about cricket and hopefully inspire them to be positive about changes in life because that’s what cricket has taught me,” said Nuana.
