Big changes in Defence Force in 2016

The PNGDF Commander Gilbert Toropo says that 2016 will be a year of massive change and upgrade for the army.

Toropo says that next year will see the army deal with the major uniform and procurement issue.

The uniform issue has been a concern within the PNG Defence Force  for a while,  however a  tender advisement has already gone out to establish an integrated supply system.

Toropo explains that this is so the uniform and field equipment issue is addressed .

Meantime, another area that will be focused on is the Joint Services College concept which will also recommence in 2016.

He says that this will see the re-establishment of the CS and police cadets training alongside their army counterparts at the Defence academy at Igam barracks outside Lae.

Toropo says that with many milestones achieved so far, the PNGDF has a lot to look forward to in terms of upgrading its capabilities.

A proper intention  will be outlined come January during the Commanders parade.
