Barras set target of 355 for Namibia

The Hebou PNG Barramundis have bounced back from a disappointing batting performance this morning to set a target of 355 for Nambia to chase down for victory.

Day three began this morning at 9:30am with the openers Tony Ura and Vani Vagi Morea at the crease looking to extend the Barras lead.

But Namibia had other ideas and crushed the Barras hopes of pushing their lead past 400 by the end of play this afternoon.

Bernard Scholtz was the man responsible taking 6/65 off his 19 overs.

The slow left-arm orthodox bowler troubled the Barras with Scholtz claiming the wickets of big guns Lega Siaka (7), Assad Vala (6) and Mahuru Dai (8) who didn’t score past 10.

The Barras were all bowled out after lunch for 189 after 57 overs leaving a target of 355 runs for Namibia to chase down. Morea top scored for the Barras with 61.

Similar to the Barras batting collapse earlier in the day, Namibia’s top order crumbled and they soon found themselves at 5-57.

It was Norman Vanua who did the damage taking the first three wickets of Stephan Baard (5) and Zane Green and Pikky Ya France each for a duck.

The wickets continued to fall leaving Namibia at 8/98 at 5:28pm requiring another 257 runs to win.

There is still one day of play left in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Intercontinental Cup (ICUP) match.
