A prison escapee who was on the run for more than one year was arrested by members of the Joint Forces Call Out (JFCO) comprising PNG Defence Force and Police officers in Porgera in the Enga Province.
The escapee is currently being held in police custody at the Paiam Police Station in Porgera.
The male escapee identified as Fredis Lamaipa from Paiela village in Porgera, escaped from the Baisu Prison Camp on December 31, 2014 after he was charged with one account of willful murder.
On Monday January 11, members of the JFCO, acting upon trips from informants went to Apalaka at about 6pm outside Paiam station and arrested the escapee.
