A Goroka man wanted by Kerema police in relation to the rape of a Daru woman earlier last month has been caught this week.
The man raped the woman at gunpoint on March 7th after he intercepted her late at night when she was returning home after visiting relatives.
Police reported that at the time of the incident, the man was under the influence of homebrew and drugs.
He was arrested by highway patrol during the early hours of Friday (April 22nd) outside the Malalaua station when trying to board a PMV bound for Port Moresby.
The man is now in police custody and has been charged with rape, grievous body harm and assault with a deadly weapon.
