Abel to head Alotau development authority

The Alotau District Development Authority Board held its first meeting yesterday and swore in its members.

In the swearing in ceremony before Her Worship, Nialyn Kiteap, Senior Provincial Magistrate, all members made two declarations.

The first being the Declaration of Loyalty and second being the Declaration of Office.

In the Declaration of Loyalty, each member elect, chairman elect, members appoint and Chief executive officer appoint declared as follows; " I, realizing fully the responsibilities to which I am committing myself and the consequences of not living up to this Declaration and those responsibilities, freely and willingly declare my loyalty to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea and its people and to the constitution of Papua New Guinea adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 15th August 1975, as altered from time to time in accordance with its provisions and promises that I will uphold the constitution and the laws of Papua New Guinea."

In the Declaration of Office, all members swore that they will render true and faithful serve in the AlotauDistrict Development Authority.

Her Worship, Nialyn Kiteap encouraged them to comply with the Declarations and not to bypass each section of the law because these are Acts which are uphold in the Constitution of PNG.

Alotau MP and Chairman elect for ADDA, Hon.Charles Abel said; "Under this new legal entity, backed by the national government, this concept is all about speeding up service delivery to our people. It’s a very important concept, an implementation mechanism in conjunction with service improvement funding. Basically bringing government closer to the people in terms of service delivery."

CEO, Lyndsay Alesana said the function and structure of the ADDA ," Is about making the public service function and effective. It’s about moving towards improving service delivery."

Other members are as follows; Suau RLLG President, Lelena Meyoa, Huhu LLG President, Gita Elliot, AULLG Mayor, James Rupeni, Maramatana RLLG, Wilfred Girua, Makamaka RLLG, Ms Angela Nelson, Women's representative.
