PNG Research, Science and Technology chief executive officer, Professor Lohi Matainaho received the first of the three-volume Conference Proceedings and the Resolution of the Conference today.

The three volumes were put together over a year’s editorial work by the conference editorial team.

The volumes capture selected written contributions presented at the conference which was the largest scientific discussion ever hosted by this University.

It includes also a statement by the conference chairman highlighting conference achievements and participant acknowledgment.

More than 400 people attended the week-long forum where more than 130 technical and policy papers and posters, as well as presentations, focused on and around its theme.

The theme was “Promoting responsible sustainable development through science and technology – the PNG Way’.

Conference chair Professor Chalapan Kaluwin expressed overall satisfaction and delight in the completion of all outstanding tasks undertaken by the Secretariat.

He articulated his appreciation to all research institutions, policy makers, overseas guests, academia, and the private sector, as well as concerned citizens and communities for their contributions.

“I am humbled by the various positive contributions and sponsorships put forth by the presenters and participants who ensured it was a rewarding experience for us all,” Kaluwin said.

The 2014 Conference Secretariat has printed 300 copies of its discussion proceedings which will be disturbed to its various sponsors, major participants and appropriate policy makers.

PNG RST, the government research body responsible for all scientific research in the country, is expected to take the lead in pushing forward all resolutions reached from the 2014 conference.
