Morobe to host 14th Momase Governor’s meet

Morobe Province will be hosting the 14th Momase Governor's Conference this week.

The three-day meeting will also farewell one of the longest-serving governors in the region.

Host Governor Kasiga Kelly Naru said in a news conference yesterday that one of the significance of the meeting is to farewell senior national statesman and founding father of the nation, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.

Sir Michael will be received in Morobe for the last time as the Governor of East Sepik. He will be accorded the highest respect before he retires from politics, stated Naru.

"Our regional governors will be here this week for the 24th Momase Governor's Conference and I want all our people to accord them with respect and hospitality,” Naru said.

Under the theme: "Fostering and enhancement of Momase Region to partnership", they will work together to enhance regionalism like in Shipping Links, a transport service that is lacking in the region.

The Momase Governor's Conference will be held in Lae from July 6th to 8th.

The Governor said they will take Grand Chief Sir Michael to Finschhafen, the place where he completed his high school.
