Former queen urges PNG to support Miss Pacific Islands role

Former Miss Papua New Guinea Grace Nugi encourages the nation to support the role of Miss Pacific Islands following the crowning of a new queen, our very own Abigail Havora.

When congratulating Abigail, she said let us as a nation support whatever steps she takes next and raise the bar for the Miss Pacific Islands title.

Miss Pacific’s role is to contribute to regional affairs and promote the Pacific Islands as an ambassador of the region for the next 12 months.

She will promote the region’s tourism to draw attention to our challenges as third world peoples and to be role models for our region’s young girls.

“Abigail truly deserves it and will perform the role and carry both crowns with utmost dignity, confidence and carry the message of issues that affect the Pacific to a bigger platform,” said Nugi.

Nugi mentioned in her closing speech of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG 2015 last month, that all her thoughts and blessings were with whoever is to be crowned Miss PNG to go to the Cook Islands and bring home the crown.

She said Abigail had broken PNG’s record in  winning the Miss Pacific Islands title for the first time and Nugi said she had had no doubt she would.

Nugi was crowned Miss PNG in 2014 and represented PNG at the regional pageant last year in Samoa
