Bismarks thump Globals with 6-0 victory

First-placed Bismarks thumped ninth-placed Globals with an outstanding 6-0 victory to maintain the lead in the women’s division of the POM Hockey competition yesterday.

The first few minutes at Sir John Guise stadium were notable for a number of fumbles by each side, but Bismarks were too good with their passing game, which saw them pick up the first goal with a real shot on goal to open the scoreboard.

Globals were forced to defend an early power-play when Bismark’s struck again with two added goals for a 3-0 lead.

Minutes before half-time, Bismarks managed to squeeze the puck through the Global defence for their fourth, which sprawled Globals defenders to a 4-0 at half-time.

In the second half, Globals tightened their defence with stoic resistance, clearing the puck from the backline and attempting to drive through the Bismarks’ backlines.

Despite Globals’ many attempts and clearances, Bismarks continued to maintain their passes and had a great drive up the field. Their well-aimed shot slashed through the defence to hit the back of the net for 5-0.

Minutes before the fulltime whistle, Bismarks closed the victory with another goal for a 6-0 win.

Bismark still hold onto a clear lead in the women’s division with 18 points, followed by Sunam with 16 and Wanderers on 14 points.
