World Wildlife Day today

Today is World Wildlife day.

Internationally the theme is “Big cats: predators under threat", here in PNG, specifically Port Moresby’s Nature Park, the day was focused on conservation of unique local wildlife.

According to the United Nations website today should be an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora as well as to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people.

We are encouraged today to get children who are future leaders of wildlife conservation and inspire them to live in harmony with wildlife.

Today was a hive of activity at the Nature Park as different conservation groups from around the country set up stalls to educate people about the awareness work that they did.

The Nature Park’s, General Manager, Michelle McGeorge spoke about the main aim of today’s celebration which ended a three day conservation workshop.

Meantime, the 16 conservation organizations came from as far as Milne Bay to the Highlands region with major event sponsors being Exxon Mobil and Mama Graun.
