Warwagira festival gets K5000 boost

Bank South Pacific is continuing its backing of the 2017 Warwagira & Mask Festival with a K5000 silver sponsorship.

The 23rd installment of the festival is expected to be the best yet with an array of cultural performances expected to feature.

The annual five-day event (July 12th – 16th) has grown from strength to strength every year, attracting tourists from as far as Europe and America.

Presenting the cheque to the Organising Committee, BSP Kokopo branch manager, Joe Makinta, said: “BSP recognises the need and importance of promoting and showcasing our culture for our country’s economic empowerment.

“Being a home-grown bank, it is our drive to see that PNG’s tourism and culture is being promoted with positive messages to other countries.

“The partnership between BSP and the Festival’s organising committee has been in place since 2011, and we are proud to be supporting the festival again this year.”

BSP Kokopo staff will also be facilitating opening of accounts, including the Sumatin Account, Kids Savings Account and Kundu Account, mobile banking and internet banking registrations during the five-day festival.

The Festival draws in scores of people to East New Britain, and has provided fun-filled days of traditional singsing from across the New Britain Region, as well as from neighbouring island and mainland provinces.
