RSPCA to host ‘The Longest Lunch’ today!

The RSPCA of PNG will be hosting ‘The Longest Lunch’ today (Feb 26) at the Royal Papua Yacht Club, Port Moresby, starting at 11:30am.

This fundraising event will help raise money for its animal shelter.

In a statement, community liaison coordinator, Brigitte Baki-Ta’u, said the animal shelter houses up to 50+ animals per month (mainly cats and dogs) and provides food, water, shelter and regular health checks.

“The animals in our shelter are then put up for adoption whereby the process allows us to find suitable homes for them,” stated Baki-Ta’u.

“The funds we raise will go toward:

  1. The cost of food and care for the 50+ animals in our shelter and clinic,
  2. Purchasing dog beds for our kennels, and
  3. Upgrading our old cat kennel and boarding facilities.

“We are grateful and appreciate the support we have received over the years for our supporters, members and donors, and especially from those that are ongoing.

“We urge the business community, stakeholders and line agencies to step up and support the RSPCA of PNG because it is the only group of its kind in the country. We have reached out to the business community to assist us by purchasing tickets.”

Reservations can be made by contacting Brigitte on rspca@rspca.org.pg or 325 2363/ 7198 2200/ 7196 0436.

Tickets will be available at the end of this month. There will be memorabilia, artefacts and other items on auction and great raffle prizes.

RSPCA of PNG is delighted to have the support of the Airways Hotel, Anne Ames, EMTV, FAB! Catering, PNG Air, Port Moresby Nature Park, Royal Papua Yacht Club, South Pacific Air Conditioning, The National, Treid Print, Tru Tru Wara and Walindi Plantation Resort.

Light entertainment will be provided by DAJAS.
