Park scoops 2020 award

Port Moresby Nature Park has celebrated recognition as a PNG outstanding attraction in the 2020 Travelers’ Choice Award-Winner by TripAdvisor.

The award is based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic, with award winners known for consistently receiving great traveler feedback.

This award officially places Port Moresby Nature Park in the top 10 percent of tourism attractions around the world.

Port Moresby Nature Park’s CEO, Michelle McGeorge, said: “The Nature Park is humbled to be recognised as a global leader as in addition to our efforts in community and schools education, wildlife conservation and research, we have also worked hard to promote PNG overseas and to do our part to ensure PNG is proudly represented on the tourism stage.”

McGeorge noted that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and international tourism travel restrictions, 1 in 8 international visitors to PNG were visiting the Nature Park, making it the highest visited attraction for international visitors in the country.

“Winners of the 2020 Travelers’ Choice Awards should be proud of this distinguished recognition,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor.

“Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners' achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for travelers as the world begins to venture out again.”

The Nature Park has continued to work tirelessly this year, even though they have been significantly affected by visitation downturn due to COVID-19.
