New desks for Sacred Heart Primary

Students attending Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School will now have enough sitting space after the school received 50 new desks from the NCD Governor last week.

The new desks were presented to them on Tuesday by Governor Powes Parkop.

Governor Parkop encouraged the students to keep attending classes every day and not to worry about outside factors that will distract them from learning.

“You will be successful and become professionals in the future if you concentrate on your studies now when you’re in school,” said Governor Parkop.

The NCD Governor said the 50 desks presented to the school are to help improve the learning environment.

“Education is the pathway to becoming professionals and to achieve that students need to be accommodated and facilitated well,” said Governor Parkop.

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School head teacher, Pokatou Litau, said the desks will help alleviate students’ seating problem.

“We have more than two thousand students and due to desks shortage, some of them are forced to sit on the floor during classes,” Litau said.

School head girl, Cyrilla Tumba, on behalf of the students, thanked the NCD Governor for the initiative.

“The desks will now allow our students to find comfort and learn well in classrooms,” Tumbu said.

At a cost of K17,000, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is the first school in NCD this year to receive desks under the NCD Governor’s initiative to distribute desks to NCD schools.

Governor Parkop said after the distribution of desks to primary schools, he will look at other areas like classrooms and teachers’ housing.
