National examinations set for October

The Department of Education has confirmed and released today, the dates for Grades 10 and 12 National Examinations.

The Secretary for Education Dr Uke Kombra is advising all the provincial administrators, advisors and education boards, church education secretaries, principals, head teachers and parents to take heed of the dates and strictly administer the exams on the time and dates approved by Education Department.

The Grade 10 Lower Secondary School Certificate Examination will be conducted from Monday 8th October to Friday 12th October and will see a total of 72,012 Grade 10 students in 328 High and Secondary Schools.

Immediately a week after the grade 10 exams, 30 662 Grade 12 students in 170 Secondary and National High Schools will sit for the Upper Secondary School Certificate Examination from October 15th to the 19th while Grade 8 examination will be administered from October 22nd to the 25th.

Education Department is against cheating and is reminding everyone that the penalty for cheating or assisting to cheat in the National Examination is Non Certification.

External invigilators, School heads and principals are urged to report all observed malpractices to Measurement Services Division of the Department for analysis and action. 

The Education Department has also issued strict directions to the teachers not to view, read or access Exam Papers before and during the conduct of all Exams.
