Local fisherman missing out on space to sell catch

The Koki Fish Market has gone a long way in benefiting the local fishermen and city residents in the nation’s capital since its opening last December.

However, some local fishermen have raised concern that there is still not enough space for some of them to sell their catch at the newly opened market.

Some Fisherman Islanders had to return home with their catch as there was not enough bench space for them to sell their catch.

Concerned fisherman, Willie Joe said some of his counterparts had to return home with their unsold catch because there wasn’t space.

“Fresh fish can go bad very quick unless kept in ice or smoked on fire.”

However, thanks to social media and the internet, the men tried going online via facebook to sell their catch to online users who want to buy fresh fish.

They were able to sell some of their catch but they still prefer to sell their catch at the main fish market like rest.

“This is because customers can be able to choose from a variety of catches and buy.”

They are calling on the Member for Moresby South to consider putting more benches or expanding the fish market so everyone can have a chance to sell their catch in future.
