Koloma case update

The National Deputy Statistician, Bernard Kiele says that NSO will continue to perform its mandated responsibilities to support the government with the statistical indicators to enable and progress its development plans.

In a statement released this afternoon, Kiele said this despite the recent national court decision to dismiss an appeal sought by the incumbent national statistician, Roko Koloma to stay his warrant of arrest by police.

Kiele said the allegations levelled against Koloma is between him and the police as the law enforcement agency.

He said that the NSO remains neutral but will assist police in its investigations if and when required.

Meantime, the Minister for National and Monitoring, Richard Maru, has warned staff to attend to their duties adding that the action of one person should not deter their work.

Police have to date asked Koloma to voluntarily surrender himself into custody.
