Adventist community aids HB fire survivors

​Individuals, organizations, and various church groups have visited the HB Fire affected survivors and continued to support them in various ways.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Community Services (ACS) in Port Moresby have donated 15 bales of second-hand clothing, food items and kitchen utensils to the families who were affected.

The ACS, led by its NCD President, Veronica Baliki visited the families last weekend.

NCD ACS represents the Seventh-day Adventist Church in NCD and Central Province.

The ACS comprises mostly of simple, faithful and committed members in the church who have a heart of service in touching lives and making a difference.

Although constrained in means of their own, these volunteers mostly women, gave of their sustenance to support the victims of the fire in Hanuabada.

Local Adventist church buses and trucks were on hand to transport the donated items from the Conference head office yard in Ela Beach to Hanuabada village.

ACS Director of the Central Papua Conference, Pastor Keke Omoa, was amongst the team, and shared his conviction.

“The way of the Gospel is to go out and assist the people who are in need. The affected people need our help and we need to act and translate love from the pulpits of our churches into action.”

Over the past days, the ACS members have feeding the fire survivors with cooked food based out of Hohola Adventist Church.

This arrangement is estimated to last for a month depending on the availability of donations for members and the community.

Pr. Omoa is making a call to all the members of the Adventist churches in NCD to come together and support the affected fire survivors at their time of suffering, pain and loss of properties and homes.

Non-perishable food items, clothing, cooking utensils and other donations can be brought to local Adventists churches in NCD, the Adventists NCD office at Kunai St, Hohola or the CPC Office at Ela Beach to facilitate in the relief.
