39 graduate with early teaching certificate

39 trained teachers graduated this morning with a Certificate of Early Childhood Teaching at the Sione Kami Memorial Church in Port Moresby.

A total of 15 teachers from the Central Province, 15 from the nation’s capital and 9 from Gulf Province were the focus of the main celebrated event.

Early Childhood Teaching representative, Mara Wape, upon welcoming the graduands, encouraged them to teach with passion and care for the children.

He said few have the passion to teach children to have very high success rates.

“You graduands came with this quality and the PNG Digicel Foundation has identified that quality in you.”

He said as volunteers with minimum qualifications teaching in learning centres, they have turned from being dismayed, neglected and isolated people into becoming passionate teachers.

Digicel Foundation CEO, Beatrice Mahuru, challenged the graduands of the role they have been entrusted with.

“I want you to know that the role you play is not one that is taken lightly and I don’t want you to take that for granted because how you are to that child, that child will be to the rest of the country.”

She appealed to the graduands to be a fertile ground where children will grow to learn and love others.

“Because together, we can contribute so much back to our country than growing up to resisting each other.”
