Ramu-Nico records milestone production

Ramu Nico has recorded a milestone production of more than three thousand tonnes of Cobalt-Nickel since the inception of the mines operation and production.

At the end of February, Ramu Nico recorded 7578.10 tons of Cobalt-Nickel Hydroxide (dry basis), equating to 3008.77 tons of metallic nickel.

The milestone is attributed to historical nickel recovery rate this year from 88.175 per cent in January to 89.09 per cent in February, signifying a technical bottleneck improvement with guaranteed production stabilization in the future.

This came at a time when world nickel prices stood at US$10,920 per ton and cobalt price at US$$51,000 per ton, according to London Metal Exchange.

Ramu Nico management say Basamuk (BSK) Refinery and Kurumbukari (KBK)Mine took various measures, such as implementation of the new process, safety inspection, equipment maintenance and other improvement measures to achieve the production target.

Meanwhile employees of Ramu Nico have been commended for their role in helping to achieve the result.

They have also been reminded to maintain production safety measures to continuously improve production output.

“Ramu NiCo’s commitment to safety production should not just be a slogan and it needs real action from the managerial department to the production section both KBK Mine and BSK Refinery,” said Vice President of Ramu NiCo, Hu Zhiliang.
