Outgoing Chamber director applauded

The outgoing executive director of the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum has served the chamber with distinction.

Greg Anderson, who leaves after 28 years in the role, has been commended by Papua New Guinea Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative’s National Secretariat Head, Lucas Alkan, for being supportive to them.

In a media statement, Alkan said Anderson had been supportive since PNG agreed to implement the EITI reporting process as a candidate country in 2013.

“It’s been a wonderful time working with the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum under the leadership of Mr Greg Anderson, particularly in supporting us implement the EITI reporting in the country,” Alkan said.

“On behalf of the staff of the PNG EITI National Secretariat and the Multi Stakeholder Group (MSG), I offer sincere acknowledgements to Mr Anderson’s leadership at the Chamber.

“We wish him well in his future career and interest.”

The Chamber has announced that former University of PNG vice chancellor, Professor Albert Mellam, will assume the vacant role.

Alkan congratulated Mellam on the appointment and said he was looking forward to strengthening the relationship with the chamber.
